At Happy Head, all of our topical formulas are administered via dropper or pump, not by spray, gel, or foam. Here are the main reasons why our medical team prefers the droppers:
Droppers are more precise. Droppers enable our patients to get the exact dosage of medication that they need. With a spray, it's much harder to measure out a particular amount for consistent use. This can lead to an excess of product, or to patients running out early because they can't tell how much they're using on a daily basis.
Sprays & foams get caught in the hair. When using a spray or foam, a significant amount of the product can get caught in the hair instead of absorbing into the scalp directly. Hair loss is treated at the scalp, so any medication that sits on your hair won't have any effect. Plus, it may worsen the texture of your hair if this happens repeatedly. The dropper enables our patients to apply the medication directly to the scalp, without having to worry about their hair catching any extra.
Liquids can hold more medication. With foam in particular, the amount of medication that can be included while maintaining its consistency is limited. Because our products are higher in strength and include extra ingredients such as aloe vera, it simply is not feasible to fit everything in a foam without it collapsing into a liquid.
If the dropper is particularly frustrating for you, we do have a lotion-like SuperSolution administered via pump for our TopicalRx SuperSolution™ ProBlend, TopicalRx SuperSolution™: Finasteride, Minoxidil & LiposomalRx and TopicalRx Beard Formula. More info can be found here!
