Some of our topical ingredients can have a slight color difference ranging from nearly clear to a medium yellow color. If you've recently changed your formula, that might be the reason why you're seeing a color change. Please note, we do expect our topical formulas to turn a little more yellow over time; this is normal and will not affect the efficacy of the medication as long as you are using it before the expiration date!
Most of our topical solutions contains Retinoic acid and if your formula has turned more yellow, this is typically a result of oxidation. Retinoic acid is highly sensitive to exposure from air, light, and heat. When it oxidizes, its chemical structure changes, leading to a yellow or orange color in your solution.
In addition to color changes, you might notice that the consistency of your liquid serum has shifted—perhaps becoming thicker, stickier, or even separating. These changes often occur when the product loses water through evaporation.
Propylene glycol, commonly used as a base in most of our solutions, can also attract moisture from the air, which sometimes leads to unexpected texture changes. To minimize and changes to your topical formulation it is important to remember to properly store your medication in a cool, dark place with the container tightly closed which can help slow these changes.
