If you've just started using Happy Head products or medications, there are plenty of tips we can offer to help you stay on track and get the most out of your time with us.
Protecting Your Hair & Scalp:
- For those using topical medications, they are formulated with the strongest ingredients available, so your scalp may be sensitive at the start. Keep scalp sun exposure to a minimum. We recommend always protecting your scalp with a high-SPF sunscreen or by wearing a hat when going out in the sun.
- Weakened hair follicles are sensitive which means the strands of your hair should be treated with care. Be careful not to pull or tug on your hair and especially be careful to brush gently. Be gentle with your hair by drying your hair on low heat, keep heat-styling to a minimum, and avoid using excess styling products.
- When swimming, be sure to prepare your hair for chlorinated water by applying a leave-in conditioner or wearing a swim cap. Rinse your hair immediately after a swim to reduce the amount of chlorine on your scalp and strands.
- A healthy diet can improve the health of your hair! Of particular importance are Vitamin A, Vitamin D, Biotin, and sufficient protein. (P.S: Our Hair Growth Supplements and Hair Serum can help with that!)
Getting the most out of your hair growth journey:
- Remember to apply your topical treatment via dropper, or take your oral medication, as directed by your board-certified dermatologist.
- Take progress photos when you start and each month following use. Why? You may not think you're seeing results but photos will help you see the difference. Plus, you can always reference these in conversations with your dermatologist. You can upload them and compare photos directly on your account page here!
- Ask your dermatologist about combining topical treatment with the oral form. We call that sandwiching, which means addressing your hair loss from the inside out.
- If you're not seeing hair growth results within 6 months of starting the product, ask your dermatologist for a formula adjustment(s).
